Our Philosophy

The HWIS 3 Cs

Confidence. Courage. Character.

At HWIS, education is more than preparation for university — it is preparation for life. Through meaningful learning, purposeful leadership, and service to others, students develop the knowledge, skills, and values needed to make a positive difference.

These three principles shape how students learn, how they lead, and how they contribute to the communities around them.

At HWIS, students are encouraged not only to achieve, but also to use their learning with confidence, courage, and purpose.

Our Philosophy

The HWIS 3Cs express the qualities we want students to develop throughout their journey from Grade 7 to graduation.

Confidence to Lead

Find your voice. Take initiative. Lead with empathy.
HWIS students learn to communicate their ideas clearly, collaborate with others, and take responsibility for their decisions. Leadership is not limited to holding a title. It is demonstrated whenever students listen, contribute, support others, and help move a group forward.

Courage to Learn

Ask questions. Embrace challenge. Grow through experience.
Learning requires curiosity, perseverance, and a willingness to move beyond what feels familiar. HWIS students are encouraged to explore new ideas, attempt challenging work, respond constructively to feedback, and learn from both progress and setbacks. Through appropriate academic challenge and personalised pathways, students develop the confidence to take intellectual risks and continue growing.

Character to Serve

Act with integrity. Care for others. Contribute with purpose.
HWIS students are encouraged to use their knowledge, talents, and leadership to benefit others. Through collaboration, ethical decision-making, and service, they learn that personal achievement also carries responsibility. Character is reflected in everyday choices: treating others with respect, acting honestly, fulfilling responsibilities, and contributing positively to the school and wider community.
