Which grade levels does HWIS serve?
Hong Wen International School serves students in Grades 7–12. Applicants should contact Admissions to discuss the intended entry grade and current availability.
How do I begin an application?
Begin by completing the HWIS application form. After the application is submitted, the Admissions Team will review the information and contact your family regarding the next steps.
Can I speak with Admissions before applying?
Yes. Families may contact the Admissions Team to ask about grade placement, academic pathways, assessments, registration documents, residence, or campus visits before submitting an application.
When should families apply?
Families should contact Admissions as early as possible so the school can confirm current availability, explain the required documents, and arrange the application and assessment process.

What happens after an application is submitted.
What happens after the school receives an application?
The Admissions Team reviews the submitted information and contacts the family regarding the next steps. A meeting may also be arranged to better understand the student’s academic background and learning needs.
Are placement assessments required?
Yes. Applicants complete placement assessments in English and Mathematics. These assessments help the school understand the student’s current skills and determine an appropriate placement.
Is there an admissions interview?
The school may arrange an individual interview to learn more about the applicant’s academic background, learning needs, interests, and goals.
How is a placement decision made?
The school reviews the application information, previous academic records, placement assessment results, and any relevant interview information before determining whether an appropriate placement and enrollment place can be offered.
How long does the admissions process take?
The timeline depends on the completeness of the application, document submission, assessment scheduling, and school review. Admissions will provide guidance based on the applicant’s individual circumstances.
Which registration documents are required?
Requirements depend on the student’s entry grade, previous school, residency status, and whether the application is from Taiwan or overseas. Review the Registration Documents page and confirm the final checklist with Admissions.

What academic pathways are available at HWIS?
HWIS offers university-preparatory pathways that include Advanced Placement, the IB Diploma Programme, and Cambridge IGCSE and A Levels. Appropriate options depend on the student’s grade level, academic background, interests, and goals.
Can students choose their own courses?
Students receive guidance when selecting courses and academic pathways. Choices are based on grade-level requirements, previous preparation, academic goals, subject availability, and counselor or teacher recommendations.
How is the appropriate grade or course placement determined?
Placement is determined through a review of the student’s age, previous schooling, transcripts, assessment results, learning needs, and readiness for the requested grade or course level.
Is academic support available?
HWIS provides academic guidance and student support. The specific support available will depend on the student’s grade level, courses, learning needs, and school recommendations.
Does HWIS provide university counseling?
Yes. Students receive guidance in academic planning, university research, application preparation, personal statements, essays, recommendations, testing, and important deadlines.

Can families visit the campus before applying?
Yes. Families may attend an Open House or arrange an individual campus visit to explore the school, meet members of the HWIS team, and learn more about academics and student life.

Is student residence available?
HWIS provides a structured residence program for students in Grades 7–12. Availability, eligibility, fees, room arrangements, and placement procedures must be confirmed directly with the Admissions Team.
Are boys and girls housed separately?
Yes. Boys and girls have separate residence spaces with structured routines, residential supervision, and evening study support.
How do families apply for residence?
Contact Admissions and indicate that residence is required. The school will confirm availability and explain the application, documentation, fees, and placement procedures.
